Alash Ensemble is a Tuvan throat-singing group known for performing khöömei, the traditional overtone singing technique of Tuva, a republic in southern Siberia. The ensemble specializes in preserving and presenting authentic Tuvan vocal music, which features the distinctive harmonic resonance created by manipulating the vocal tract to produce multiple pitches simultaneously. Their sound draws from centuries-old Tuvan musical traditions and shamanic practices. Alash Ensemble has performed internationally and contributed to global awareness of throat-singing as a serious musical art form rather than a novelty. Their work emphasizes the cultural and spiritual dimensions of Tuvan music.
