Sofía Tosello & Yuri Juárez | South American Roots & Jazz | First Set Presented by Acoustic Memories Location: Terraza 7 Date: Sunday, Sept 27, 2026 Time: 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM(First Set) Admission: $20: Cover at Mezzanine. Featuring: Sofía Tosello / Vocals Yuri Juárez / Guitar Hector Moralez / Percussion About Sofía Tosello & Yuri Juárez: Sofía Tosello (Argentina) and Yuri Juárez (Perú) are a musical partnership forged in New York City, where their careers and lives merged into one. Married and parents of two, they bring to the stage not just technique but lived experience. Their work spans Latin American traditions from folkloric roots to jazz exploration. In 2012 they created Tangolandó, a dialogue between Argentine tango and Afro-Peruvian rhythms that earned them recognition in New York's global music scene. Their latest project, Sofia & Yuri (2026), strips the music down to voice and guitar. Tango, vals, bolero, and song — intimate, personal, and deeply felt. About Sofía Tosello: Sofía Tosello sang her first professional concert at age eight in Córdoba, Argentina. More than three decades later, she stands as one of the most emotionally powerful voices in Latin American music in New York, equally at home in tango, jazz, Argentine folklore, and Afro-Peruvian rhythms. She moved to New York in 1999, and the city deepened her already vast musical range. In 2009 she released Alma y Luna (Sunnyside Records), prompting Jazz Times to write that "the purity of her voice is matched by the vibrancy of her emotional palette and inventiveness of her cross-cultural technique." In 2011 she co-founded Tangolandó with Yuri Juárez, merging Argentine tango with Peruvian rhythms, performing at Joe's Pub, the Blue Note, and Lincoln Center in New York, and at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. Her album Lluvia Fue, a collaboration with Latin Grammy winner Fernando Otero, showcases her full range across the tango repertoire: tart and wistful, quiet and soaring, respectful of tradition and innovative in technique. Her vocals have appeared on more than a dozen albums, alongside artists including Guillermo Klein, Pedro Giraudo, Horacio "El Negro" Hernández, Aquiles Báez, and Emilio Solla. She has also taught vocal technique and jazz improvisation in India and the United States. Sofía Tosello sings the way she talks in life. That is what makes her unforgettable.
