Rooted in the musical culture of Boca de San Miguel, Tlacotalpan, the Vega family represents several generations of musicians whose artistry has been shaped by the fandango—a communal celebration where music, dance, poetry, and improvisation come together. Through instruments such as the jarana, requinto jarocho, leona, quijada, and tarima, Los Vega brings to the stage the rhythmic vitality, improvisational spirit, and poetic tradition that define son jarocho. Their repertoire draws from generations of Veracruz musical knowledge while remaining a living and evolving expression of contemporary Mexican culture. Recognized as important exponents of traditional son jarocho, Los Vega have carried the music of Veracruz to audiences in Mexico and internationally. Their performances preserve the intimate relationship between musicians, dancers, and community that lies at the heart of the fandango tradition. More than simply a musical ensemble, Los Vega embodies a family lineage and a living cultural tradition, connecting ancestral sounds from rural Veracruz with new generations and audiences around the world.
