jakey jakes is a New York City-based singer-songwriter and actor born and raised in Minnesota. Described as “sunshine in the shape of a man,” he delivers a uniquely endearing brightness through his music. With indie-folk, jazz, and pop influences, his sound feels like a honey drizzle atop a pastry fresh out of the oven. Typically writing his lyrics first, each song serves as a narrative-based sonic cinema where he paints worlds that reflect his uplifting, whimsical, carefree, and insightful personality. As a gay artist, he values contributing an optimism and hope that showcases love in a similar wholesome manner to that of the novel and series Heartstopper.He was brought up in a musical household, with a piano teacher/songwriter for a father, where his instinctual ability to express himself through music and writing was encouraged and nourished from a young age. He continued honing his skills and sharpening his pen while studying musical theatre in college. He released his debut EP, sandbox. in 2023, featuring the fan favorite “leo.” which bottles the youthful, vibrant energy of living in a new city and navigating the world of romance.With a new EP to arrive late this summer, jakey jakes takes his acoustic stylings and sparkly charm to the stage with the reminder that everything in life arises, abides, and subsides. “To float, to glisten, to pop,” as we see in the beauty of something like a bubble.
