Thorns is a Norwegian black metal band known for their pioneering role in the development of the genre's sound. Founded by guitarist and songwriter Snorre Ruch, the band's music is characterized by its intricate guitar work, atmospheric elements, and dark, brooding themes. Influenced by early black metal acts like Mayhem and Darkthrone, Thorns integrates dissonant melodies and complex song structures, setting them apart in the metal scene. Their self-titled album, released in 2001, remains a significant contribution to the genre.
