The Vaselines are a Scottish indie pop band known for their blend of jangly guitars and catchy melodies, often infused with a sense of playful irreverence. Formed in 1986 by Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee, their sound is characterized by a lo-fi aesthetic and simple, yet effective songwriting. Influenced by the punk and alternative scenes, their music has been noted for its raw energy and straightforward charm. Despite a brief initial run, their work gained a cult following, notably impacting artists like Nirvana, who covered several of their songs.
