The SOS Band is an American group known for their blend of R&B, funk, and soul, with a distinctive sound characterized by smooth vocals and rhythmic grooves. Emerging in the late 1970s, they were heavily influenced by the era's burgeoning funk scene and the polished production styles of the 1980s. Their collaboration with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis helped define their sound, particularly through the integration of electronic elements and catchy, danceable melodies. The band's work is marked by their ability to seamlessly fuse traditional R&B with contemporary trends, creating enduring hits like "Take Your Time (Do It Right)."
