As a musician, he has performed in the comedy rock band The Credibility Gap and later as part of Spinal Tap, the mock heavy metal band created for the 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap. His musical work blends comedy with rock instrumentation, drawing on parody and satire rather than serious genre conventions.
