Loudon Wainwright III is an American singer-songwriter known for his folk and folk-rock music, characterized by witty, introspective lyrics and a distinctive storytelling style. Emerging from the 1970s singer-songwriter scene, his work is influenced by traditional folk, blues, and country music, with a nod to the confessional songwriting of artists like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Wainwright's sound is defined by his sharp observational humor and candid reflections on personal and societal themes, often delivered with a straightforward vocal style and acoustic guitar accompaniment.
