Lloyd Cole is an English singer-songwriter known for his work in the alternative rock and folk genres. His music is characterized by literate lyrics and a melodic sensibility, drawing influence from artists like Bob Dylan and Lou Reed. Cole first gained prominence in the mid-1980s as the frontman of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, whose jangly guitar sound and introspective songwriting defined their style. As a solo artist, Cole has continued to explore a more stripped-down, acoustic approach, maintaining his focus on thoughtful lyricism and nuanced storytelling.
