De Staat is a Dutch rock band from Utrecht formed in 2004. Their sound blends alternative rock with funk and post-punk influences, characterized by angular guitar work, syncopated rhythms, and dynamic vocals. The band draws inspiration from post-punk and new wave acts while incorporating modern rock sensibilities. They are known for energetic live performances and have built a following across Europe through releases like their self-titled debut and subsequent albums. Their music is defined by tight instrumentation and an unpredictable, genre-blending approach to rock music.
