Castle — artist
Castle has 2 upcoming shows, next at Transplants Brewing Company on Mon, Oct 26. Dates, venues and tickets on Ckord.
Formed in San Francisco in 2009, Castle is an underground heavy metal and doom band driven by the core husband-and-wife duo of Mat Davis (guitar/vocals) and Elizabeth Blackwell (bass/vocals). Known for a relentless global touring schedule and a stripped-down, riff-focused sound, the band blends traditional '70s and '80s hard rock energy with occult-themed lyricism inspired by vintage literature and self-realization.Castle gained early underground acclaim with their debut album In Witch Order (2011) and their JUNO-nominated sophomore release Blacklands (2012). Over their career, they have released over half a dozen records—including Welcome to the Graveyard and Evil Remains—and played more than 600 shows worldwide alongside a rotating cast of session and touring drummers. The band stands out in the modern doom metal scene by avoiding mock-operatic tropes, relying instead on Blackwell's soulful, authoritative vocal delivery and Davis's distinctive classic-metal guitar work.
