A Flock of Seagulls is a British new wave band formed in Liverpool in 1978. The group is best known for their synth-pop sound and the 1982 hit "I Ran (So Far Away)," which became a defining track of 1980s new wave radio. Their music combines synthesizers, angular guitar work, and distinctive vocal delivery, drawing influence from post-punk and electronic music trends of the era. The band's aesthetic, including their distinctive hairstyles and visual presentation, became iconic markers of early 1980s new wave culture. After initial success in the early 1980s, they disbanded but reunited for periodic tours in later decades.
