Freedom Mortgage Pavilion — music venue
Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden has 2 upcoming shows. Next: Steve Lacy: Oh yeah? Tour on Thu, Oct 15. Full calendar, lineups and tickets on Ckord.
If you want to experience the absolute biggest outdoor amphitheater shows in the Philadelphia area, you need to head right across the Delaware River to the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey.Since opening in 1995 (and going through several famous name changes, from the Tweeter Center to the Susquehanna Bank Center), this massive venue has been the undisputed king of the summer concert season. Boasting a massive 25,000-person capacity, it operates as a sweeping, open-air amphitheater during the warmer months, featuring an absolutely gorgeous, sprawling general admission lawn that offers unobstructed, postcard-worthy views of the Philadelphia skyline and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. It is the go-to stop for the biggest summer tours on the planet—hosting massive country music festivals, heavy metal roadshows, legacy rock bands, and multi-day jam band runs. The energy on the lawn is purely communal, festival-style magic. But what makes this venue truly unique is its winter transformation. When the weather gets cold, the venue seals off the lawn and converts into a fully enclosed, climate-controlled 7,000-seat indoor theater, meaning the massive concerts don't have to stop just because summer ends.Local Tip: Skip the bridge traffic entirely! One of the coolest ways to get to the venue from Philadelphia is to take the RiverLink Ferry. It departs from Penn's Landing, takes about 15 minutes, drops you off right near the venue, and turns your commute into a scenic cruise across the Delaware River.
