Bryant Park — music venue

Bryant Park

Bryant Park is a meticulously manicured 9.6-acre park located right in the bustling heart of Midtown Manhattan. Situated directly behind the majestic Stephen A. Schwarzman Building of the New York Public Library, it serves as a sophisticated, European-style oasis amidst the towering skyscrapers and relentless traffic of the city's main business district. The park has a dramatic history of transformation. Originally operating as a potter’s field (a public burial ground) in the 1800s and later housing the massive stone walls of the Croton Distributing Reservoir, it was eventually redesigned and named after the journalist and abolitionist William Cullen Bryant. In the 1970s, the park fell into severe disrepair and became notorious as a haven for drug dealers. However, a massive, privately funded revitalization effort in the late 1980s completely opened up the sightlines and redesigned the space, turning it into one of the greatest urban planning success stories in American history.Today, Bryant Park is famously recognizable by its iconic green, movable bistro chairs and its lush, expansive central lawn bordered by a classic canopy of London plane trees. It is a highly programmed, year-round hub of activity. In the warmer months, it hosts massive summer film festivals, an outdoor reading room, ping-pong tournaments, and live Broadway performances. In the colder months, the park completely transforms into the Winter Village, boasting a massive ice skating rink and a sprawling holiday market, making it one of the most beloved gathering spaces in New York City.
