Brower Park — music venue

Brower Park is a charming, 5.5-acre neighborhood park nestled in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. With its expansive central lawn and mature shade trees, it has served as a vital, family-friendly gathering space for the surrounding community for well over a century. The park was acquired by the city in 1892 and is named after George V. Brower, a former Brooklyn Parks Commissioner who was instrumental in developing the borough's park system. However, the park is perhaps most famous for its immediate neighbor: the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Founded in 1899 as the first museum in the world designed specifically for children, the museum sits right on the edge of the park. For decades, Brower Park has acted as a natural, outdoor extension of the museum’s educational and recreational mission.Today, Brower Park is a heavily utilized space packed with amenities. It features modern playgrounds, basketball courts, a popular skate park, and a fitness area. It also honors the rich history of the neighborhood with a commemorative plaza dedicated to Shirley Chisholm, the pioneering Crown Heights native who became the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress. Between its historical significance and its active sports facilities, Brower Park remains a proud and bustling focal point for the community.
