David Janeway / Piano Freddie Hendrix / Trumpet Craig Handy / Tenor Sax Don Falzone / Bass Tim Horner / Drums A native of Detroit, in 1978 at the age of 23 Jazz pianist and composer David Janeway, moved to New York City to study and play and has been there ever since. An enormously respected musician, his powerful fluent playing has been heard in a wide variety of contexts, from straight ahead jazz with musicians such as Art Farmer and Tom Harrell through Latin Jazz artists such as Angel Canales and Sabor to Dakota Staton, The Supremes and Junior Cook. He has a number of well received albums to his name featuring the likes of Bob Berg, Sonny Fortune, Harvie S, Tim Armacost, Eliot Zigmund and more. His latest critically acclaimed record, Distant Voices, was released in 2021 on Steeplechase and features Cameron Brown and the iconic drummer, Billy Hart. They have their second trio album, Forward Motion, set to be released 10/15/24 also on Steeplechase.
