Evelyn is a London-based jazz vocalist and songwriter. Her solo work blends the beauty and narrative of American and British folk songwriting with jazz, and focuses on the singularity of the everyday. She is influenced by the great American songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Carole King, and distinctive British songwriters like Labi Siffre and Nick Drake. Her vocal style is shaped by the jazz tradition, taking inspiration from the greats - Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Carmen McRae. Evelyn’s music is marked by the jazz harmony she studied at the Guildhall School of Music, but it is her lyrical poetic honesty which really strikes the listener. In her writing, she is inspired by poets, songwriters, and wider literature. Evelyn writes all of her songs alone, but collaborates with pianist and composer Lior Solomons-Wise, creating a beautiful range of textures and atmospheres live. Evelyn is set to release her debut EP this winter, and perform across London and the UK.
