The five-piece band—Clayton Helms (vocals, guitar), Watchman Whitworth (lead guitar, vocals), Sam Shoemaker (pedal steel), Delia Cashman (bass), and Luke Paulson (drums)—revives the classic country sound from the ’50s through the ’70s, drawing inspiration from legends like Waylon and Willie, Commander Cody, Buck Owens, and Hank Williams. Their latest single, “Blues’d Up,” delivers honky-tonk energy, while their upcoming track “Texas” blends heavier 1970s influences with a modern twist. Their six-song EP promises a mix of both sounds. Known for their tight musical chemistry, Western Cuts has been playing venues across Kansas City and small towns, winning over audiences with their electrifying live performances, despite their young age.
