Sandy Bell / Mike Amari — live event

Hudson Valley singer-songwriter Sandy Bell draws inspiration from the natural world and the mysteries of the cosmos to craft uniquely stirring and beautiful works. After collaborating with artists she deeply admires, including the late Jeff Buckley and the brilliant Bat for Lashes, Sandy is currently recording new material slated for release in 2025. Her work has drawn comparisons to the likes of Kate Bush and Joanna Newsom. Sandy is also known for plumbing the damaged American psyche with the poetical precision of Emily Dickinson and the cinematic psychological acuity of David Lynch. In essence, she transmutes the bone-core despair and grief of broken American dreams and fears into a sonic cathedral of songs – a cathartic transfiguration of pain to reckoning. Most recently she has toured with Rachel Yamagata’s Galactic Trees Tour (2022-24) and Yamagata has said of her “There is something otherworldly about Sandy and her offerings that encourage us to unapologetically reach for words like ‘channeling’ and ‘spirit’ and ‘healing’ and essence.’ Her role as an artist is bigger than most may understand at first, but if you dive into the ocean that she offers, you will find magic very few have privy to thus far.” Mike Amari Known in the Hudson Valley as a presenter of concerts (at beloved Kingston venue BSP, and more recently as Chosen Family Presents) and as drummer/collaborator with psych-shoegaze stalwart Shana Falana, Mike Amari is finally stepping out of the shadows to present his own material. Equipped with just an acoustic guitar and a drum machine, this new batch of songs feels diametrically opposed to his once-upon-a-time fuzzed out wall of sound trio LOVESICK, and instead finds new space to explore in the intimate, quiet moments.
