Stereo Mandrax (FREE w/ RSVP): Lea Bertucci & Cleek Schrey • Bentley Anderson • Lampshade — live event

Lea Bertucci and Cleek Schrey From the moldy backwaters of generational trauma and a fascination with the emotional morphologies of electroacoustic sound, Lea and Cleek have found radical vulnerabilities with the hardanger d’amore fiddle, alto saxophone, tape machine and unusual mouth-sounds. Bentley Anderson Bentley Anderson is a New York City based artist working in the realm of noise and experimental music. As a guitarist Anderson has developed a personal way of engaging with the instrument, using alternate tunings and prepared techniques to achieve resonant dissonances, abstract rhythms, and trance-like drones. His music focuses on a texture-based aesthetic that attempts to form a narrative expression with sound, and improvisation as composition. He also runs the cassette label Decontrol, where he releasees his own music as well as others in the experimental scene of NYC. Lampshade Lampshade is three musicians from different musical backgrounds who have performed solo and with a wide variety of collaborators individually. This trio has been improvising together for the last three years. The array of timbers they can wrestle out of glass objects, voice, guitar and electronics is stunning and curious. Miguel Frasconi is a composer and improviser whose instrumentarium includes glass objects, analog electronics, and instruments of his own design. His recent events include recordings of glass instruments in Canada, a residency in New York state, and performances in Norway and Netherlands, including an opera by Kristin Norderval in Olso. Viv Corringham is a New York based British vocalist and sound artist, who has been described as “a vital force in improvised music since the late 1970s” (Corey Mwamba, BBC Radio 3). Her work includes concerts, installations and soundwalks.
