Creep Forward — live event

Creep Forward is an interactive Halloween party with live music and dance. Featuring excerpts from new works by Laboratory dancers, and music by badcandy and Sheep Numbers. Costumes encouraged! Laboratory Dancers is an inclusive artist collective that provides Chicago with accessible and affordable dance performance, education, and interaction. We strive to make dance accessible to newcomers and engaging to those already familiar with the art form. Rooted in sensation and experiential-based movement, we explore the intricacies of our lived experiences and the broader societal dynamics that shape them. We firmly believe in the power of collective creativity, fostering a collaborative spirit within our dance making process and actively seeking partnerships with other artists across various mediums. Together, we strive to create work that engages and inspires audiences while fostering meaningful connections and dialogue. We want to make visitors feel comfortable inside the venue and riveted inside the work. badcandy is a rock band born out of the visceral & personal songwriting of Alex Subak. Rounded out by drummer Todd Gutner, bassist/guitarist Matt Walters, & guitarist Mike Vinopal, they channel a cohesive blend of modern post-rock sharpness with more gritty garage-rock. Their debut album "Regret,” recorded & mixed at Electrical Audio, encapsulates this energy. Power-pop sensibilities meet ramshackle synth tones to create Sheep Numbers, the songwriting outlet of Chicago's Mike Martello. On guitar and vocals, Mike channels Doug Martsch-meets-Daniel Johnston vibes sweetened by the harmonies of bandmates Donnie Love (synth), Dustin Monk (bass), and Allen Winczewski (drums). On occasion, the band has been known to perform as The Sheeples, the forgotten 1964 British Invasion band that serves as their alter ego.
