The Second Annual Debt Gala is coming! The Debt Gala is back and bolder than ever! And hopefully drier than ever! After last year's show was flooded out halfway through due to historic rains, we’re back and ready to hit the red carpet all over again! On May 5th, 2024, The Debt Gala returns to Brooklyn for a night of fun, fashion, and community. This is YOUR chance to have a moment in the limelight in your fabulous outfits and creations. While the Met Gala is a pop culture experience reserved for an elite few, we are a red carpet for the people. Show off your style, enjoy a raucous variety show, and celebrate at the Debt Ball dance party. All in service of an incredible cause. Last year, we raised nearly $20,000 to alleviate a whopping $1,995,300.85 in medical debt for 1,082 families, and this year, we're doubling down on impact. All proceeds will be split between The Debt Collective and Dollar For, two powerhouse organizations dedicated to eradicating medical debt and building a world where people aren’t bankrupted due to healthcare costs. The Debt Collective organizes debtors across the country to transform individual financial burdens into collective power in the fight for debt cancellation and universal public goods. Dollar For is a national nonprofit dedicated to alleviating medical bills by facilitating access to charity care for patients in need. But like, what happens? A red carpet with incredible outfits designed to our one-of-a-kind theme “Sleeping Baddies: Savage Slumber” followed by a killer show featuring some of New York’s finest performers from the world of comedy, magic, drag, and music…ending with…the Second Annual Debt Ball to dance…..
