Standard Theatre Seated Bernard Butler, Norman Blake and James Grant are three established and respected musicians. Norman, a centrifugal force in Teenage Fanclub, Bernard, renowned for his production and songwriting with myriad artists, and James, best known as the songsmith of Love And Money. At the suggestion of FRETS host Douglas MacIntyre, Butler, Blake & Grant put together a set of their joint catalogues before debuting at a sold-out St. Lukes, Glasgow. A bond formed over a songbook spanning 5 decades of incredible music as each posed a song, harmonising over each other’s tunes. From the outset it all just seemed to work. A string of dates followed from Strathaven to London’s Union Chapel and inevitably an original recording followed. Throwing up mics to capture each moment recordings started to flow, and a record was born.
