Williams began making music under the alias in 2007 and has since gained a reputation for his unique blend of psychedelic pop & dream pop, as well as his maximalist 3D art & interactive worlds. Williams’ music is characterized by its lush and immersive soundscapes, with layers of elusive instrumentation and vocals, creating dreamy and hypnotic atmospheres. Drawing inspiration from a wide variety of sources, he’s leaned toward likeminded self-recording artists such as Robin Guthrie, Patrick Flagle of Women & Cindy Lee, A.R. Kane, Greg Saunier of Deerhoof, Curt Boettcher, Martin Newell of The Cleaners From Venus, and Todd Rundgren. He has also collaborated and shared the stage with artists of the same nature, like Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi, Ruban Nielson of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Morgan Delt. Spirits of Leo Spirits of Leo is an ethereal post-punk band based in Brooklyn, NY. Delivering intimate vocals, chorused guitars and driving rhythms, Spirits of Leo is heavily inspired by late 70’s post-punk. Artists such as The Chameleons, The Cure and Cocteau Twins serve as primary influences for the band, while Spirits of Leo are frequently compared to contemporary artists such as Drab Majesty and Wild Nothing. Gossamer Blue is the band’s latest full-length album. Somber, spectral and energetic, the LP demonstrates Spirits of Leo’s unique blend of dreamy shoegaze and ethereal post-punk, set against a backdrop of wintery atmospherics. With chorused textures and pounding rhythms, the eight titles that make up Gossamer Blue meld intricate guitar lines with ethereal vocal chants to echo the moods of early 4AD and Fiction Records-era goth.
