The Sam Holt Band, led by renowned guitarist and vocalist Sam Holt, a veteran of Nashville’s Soundcheck studio, went to work for Widespread Panic as Michael Houser’s guitar tech in 2000. Following the lingering lead’s death from pancreatic cancer in 2002, Holt regularly sat in with Widespread Panic for entire shows. He forged his path with Atlanta’s Outformation and the Sam Holt Band. The music played, and friendships made with the members of Widespread Panic have left an indelible mark on Holt’s musical identity, with the guitarist and bandleader paying his respects with regular tribute shows to Mikey Houser and Todd Nance, founding members of Panic.
