They all knew one another as performers but also fellow music teachers who quite often shared notes and ideas on the local music scene in Philadelphia. Karina is the frontwoman and bassist of the pop punk band, Valendina, and Angelique fronted her own project Zuppang. However, Melissa had no idea she had assembled the supergroup that would become known as The MAKs.The MAKs played their first show in December 2024 and quickly realized they had tapped into something special. They quickly gained the attention of media and radio stations. Within sixmonths of their first show The MAKs were named one of the four finalists of WXPN’s 24 Hour Song Challenge and nominated for three Hometown Hero Homey Awards (Delaware Public Media): “Song Of The Year” “Best Folk Song” and “Best New Artist”.-----------------------------------------About Gabe ParsonsWebsite | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube | Spotify Gabe Parsons is a Folk Rock singer-songwriter from Hopewell Valley, NJ, whose music traces the long roads between home, heart, and change. After developing his sound in New Orleans while studying at Loyola University’s School of Music Industry, Parsons returned to the Northeast, where he has since played over 150 shows and gigs and built a strong following—particularly in Philadelphia, with appearances at World Cafe Live, MilkBoy and other notable venues. In 2024, Parsons performed at French Quarter Festival alongside Kristin Diable and opened for the Crowe Boys on their national tour. His debut LP, Long Road Traveler, released in mid-October 2025, earned positive reviews in several music publications, including a feature in EARMILK, and was celebrated with a sold-out release show in his hometown at Needle Creek Brewery. He was also recognized as WXPN’s Local Pick of the Day, further cementing his growing presence in the regional Folk Rock scene. With his heartfelt lyricism and grounded sense of place, Gabe Parsons continues to carve his path—one song and one stage at a time.----------------------------
