GRANT GORDY & ADAM LEVY — live event

Widely acclaimed as a first-call accompanist with household names like Norah Jones, Ani DiFranco and Tracy Chapman, Adam Levy can easily, in the same breath, be described as a true "musician's musician." His mastery of jazz guitar language, deep groove and tastefulness form a musical completeness that's almost unfair for a single guitarist to possess, but Levy wields this power with admirable responsibility. For many guitarists, landing a gig with bluegrass mandolinist David Grisman’s groundbreaking bluegrass/jazz quintet would be the culmination of a career in music. But for Grant Gordy, it was more of a beginning, an apprenticeship in combining bluegrass and jazz that served as a launchpad for his own music. Gordy has cultivated a reputation in multiple collaborative settings as one of the most highly-regarded young instrumentalists of his generation, causing Fretboard Journal to call him “An exciting young player who, despite a plethora of influences, now sounds like nobody but himself.” Though Levy and Gordy only met for the first time in recent years, they've formed a fast friendship and share a love of slow ballads -among other things- and will be playing their debut duo performance at barbès.
