Mayo Thompson & The Corky Band

Mayo Thompson (b. 1944 in Houston, Texas) has been recording and releasing music for nearly sixty years. In addition to his innovative and influential output with the Red Krayola (a group whose history spans the psychedelic, punk, post-punk, and post-rock eras all the way through to the present day), Mayo Thompson is a visual artist and celebrated author, with a forthcoming novel on the way. He has collaborated with a wealth of artists across genres including conceptual art collective Art & Language, Cleveland’s seminal Peru Ubu and played an essential part in creating the “Rough Trade sound” in collaboration wth Geoff Travis, producing records for The Raincoats, The Fall, Cabaret Voltaire, James ‘Blood’ Ulmer, and Stiff Little Fingers, among many others. His only solo album, Corky’s Debt To His Father, is considered a landmark release of the 1970s.
