His story is one of resilience and authenticity. Santiago moved to Asheville, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his time in the LA music scene, where he played with his band Rozinante. Seeking new opportunities, he quickly immersed himself in the local music community, performing solo locally and regionally, and eventually forming strong connections with local venues and radio stations. Santiago joined several bands in the area but ultimately decided to form his own group. Santiago now leads the band Santiago y Los Gatos, which features an impressive lineup of talented musicians. The lineup includes Josh Chassner on lead guitar, Stephanie Barcelona on vocals, David Elliot Johnson on drums and Jayson Tomlin on bass guitar. Together they have enjoyed regional success and have opened for renowned acts like The Wallflowers, Franz Ferdinand, Heartless Bastards, Ozomatli, and Scott Weiland. Safety Coffin Safety Coffin is a rock duo from Asheville, NC, blending raw emotion with heavy grooves and explosive energy. Their high-intensity live shows and evocative songwriting pull listeners into a world of heartbreak, eerie imagery, and unfiltered passion. With a fiercely DIY ethos and a sound that’s both soulful and relentless, they leave every crowd buzzing. The Lost Torpedo Lost Torpedo is a three piece band based in Asheville, NC. Rooted in grunge, Lost Torpedo explores the depths of dark folk in a continuous and evolving stream of consciousness style composition. Guitars intertwine with warm electric piano and angelic cello melodies rise and fall in lockstep with an innovative medley of percussive efforts by way of mallets, brushes, shakers, rods, sticks, and tricks. Lyrically momentous rabbit holes are taunted by ethereal resolve. The journey is the destination.
