Sets at 7:30PM & 9:00PMMARIA GRAND - SaxophoneTim Watson - GuitarGervis Myles - Bass SHARE - AN EMOTIONAL MUSICAL DEEP DIVEThis is a collective participatory space.A kind of prayer, a space to exist as we are. We're observing ourselves through a dare- can you speak your mind to us, and can we play your emotions back to you? The performance goes like this: We open the space with a guided meditation. Then there are a few spots open for sharing. I’ll guide you through it, don’t worry! This is for all of us - anyone can speak. You can share something that’s going on with your life or you can simply express an emotion or a feeling. In the moment after you share, we create a song that sings your story back to you. Expressed through a loving structure, issues go from secret to shared. Burdens become communal. And sometimes humorous, because when we’re playing music, things get light. The band sonically mirrors your story and your emotions and through being witnessed, your feelings become alive. All feelings are welcome. Through being alive, they transform, and when your emotions flow freely, you become natural - you return to a state of nature. After a few shares, we return back to our state of listening. You can come to share or you can come to listen, either way, you’ll be a part of the journey, and in the closing meditation we will take some time to quietly reflect on our feelings about the piece.===Why this performance? Because times are rough and we need togetherness. Because through the roughness of these times, we are pushed to more sincerity, and when we’re truthful we’re free. Because I’ve always wanted to make communal music and give the music a communal function. Music is no longer about technique; technique is a tool to express the truth of emotions.===María Grand is a saxophonist, composer, educator, vocalist, and relationship consultant She hasperformed with her ensembles all over Europe and North America; she has also played and/orrecorded with creative music luminaries such as Joel Ross, Mary Halvorson, Antoine Roney, andmore.
