Taught by his grandfather from the age of seven, Yeison became his most cherished disciple, inheriting both the soul of a juglar and the mastery of the accordion. With his unmistakable Sabanero sound, Yeison has taken Colombian Cumbia to stages across the world—throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. From Cartagena to Cairo, and from Medellín to Madrid, his music continues to cross borders and generations. A two-time Latin Grammy nominee, Yeison was featured in El Último Cacique by Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto (nominated for Best Folk Album, 2020), and collaborated on Llora Mi Acordeón with Los Cumbia Stars. In 2021, he shared the stage with Carlos Vives at the Hay Festival Cartagena, honoring the deep roots of Cumbia through the project Cumbiana. He also performed a powerful tribute to his grandfather alongside maestro Celso Piña at Festival Santa Lucía in Monterrey, Mexico. Through every note, Yeison Landero not only represents Colombia—he honors and expands the legacy of Cumbia as a universal language that connects cultures and touches hearts.
