KITTY RUSSELL, SLMBR, CLAIRE HAWKINS, BRBCK — live event

"Drawn to the rebellious and raw spirit of punk, and the infectious hooks of pop rock, Kitty's music melds these genres with a distinctive voice that ranges from a soulful croon to a raucous roar. Her South Jersey upbringing, laden with the echoes of Bruce Springsteen’s heartland rock and the grit of the local punk scene, unmistakably influences her sound. In 2009, Kitty moved to Brooklyn, New York, in search of a more vibrant and diverse music scene. There, she quickly immersed herself in the Brooklyn punk underground. In 2012, she formed a band called The Rebel Paws, and her charismatic stage presence and anthemic melodies helped them gain a loyal following. The band's debut EP, “Scratches & Scars,” received critical acclaim for its relentless energy and heartfelt lyrics, paving the way for Kitty’s solo career." New York based band, SLMBR is the brainchild of Nick Sossi Romano, John Africano, and Kristian White. After playing in bands for most of their life, the three came together to form SLMBR. With their sound being rooted in alt-rock, they tend to break from that mold, including influences of jazz, pop and emo. A lot of the band’s songs tackle themes of mental health, reflection of self, and the human experience. Her latest EP ‘The Name’ mixes the traveling singer/songwriter’s folk-rock influences with her modern pop sensibilities. Written across Berlin, Dublin, and New York City, the songs’ themes are as eclectic as the cities that inspired them. Hawkins celebrated the release with dual EP launch shows at Whelan’s in Dublin and Mercury Lounge in New York City, as well as an Ireland and UK tour, sponsored by Journey Instruments.
