THE PINKERTON RAID, ERIK KASE ROMERO, ANDREW WEISS & FRIENDS — live event

The Pinkerton Raid’s Jesse James DeConto hails from New England, with dad’s guitar and mom’s radio tuned to Soulsville, The Village, Liverpool and Laurel Canyon, now mining foothills-folk in Durham, N.C., for songs AMERICANA-UK calls “anthemic.” With their latest release of winter-themed cover songs, the band takes on those classic mellow-gold sounds directly, bookending their sonic journey with a pop-noir version of Vince Guaraldi's "Christmas Time Is Here" and a driving, drum-circle and brass-polished rendition of folk-rock descendants Fleet Foxes' "White Winter Hymnal.” “Radiant,” says AMERICAN SONGWRITER. The band has opened for Illiterate Light, The Ballroom Thieves, TopHouse, The Collection and Noah Gundersen. They’ve slotted at Daytrotter and at festivals like Shakori Hills, Albino Skunk, H St., Beacon Bonfire and AVL Fest with artists such as River Whyless, Sunny War, Watchhouse, Amythyst Kiah and The Bones of JR Jones. “A fine blend of Beatles-esque dreamy folk,” says AMERICANA HIGHWAYS. Long Island's Andrew Weiss and Friends have made a name for themselves since their debut LP arrived in 2018 with their unique blend of Laurel Canyon folk rock and the sonic flourishes of late-70s power pop. Singer-songwriter Andrew Weiss clings to and cherishes moments of intimacy, difficult conversations, and emotional currency through his songwriting. A classic glow silhouettes Weiss’s storytelling, fusing a smart, throwback warmth and charm right into the work.
