PEDRO RAMOS is a Brazilian Cavaquinho player based in Sao Paulo. In the early part of the century, he spent a few years in New York and his Choro Ensemble (which included clarinetist Anat Cohen and percussionist Zé Mauricio among others) was probably responsible for a regain of interest in choro music in the city. Pedro also played with Rob Curto’s Forro for All, and performed regularly in the early days of Barbès. Pedro’s commitment to choro hasn’t waned - but he seldom comes back to New York - this is a rare chance to catch him.
