From tearing up the floor at Soho’s Flamingo Club to being name-checked in a Dexys Midnight Runners chart-topper, Geno Washington is woven deep into the fabric of British soul history - an American GI whose voice and energy set 1960s London alight. Born in Evansville, Indiana, Geno landed in the UK with the swagger of the blues and the heartbeat of R&B pulsing through his veins. In no time, he was sharing stages with Georgie Fame, Zoot Money and a host of now-legendary names, lighting up packed-out nights with his irrepressible vocals and magnetic presence. With the mighty Ram Jam Band, Geno would go on to sell out venues across the country and chart two albums, Hand Clappin’, Foot Stompin’, Funky-Butt… Live! and Hipster Flipsters Finger Poppin’ Daddies, both storming into the UK Top 10.
