Malt Adult #33 — live event

Malt Adult is an independent animation screening series platforming contemporary and underground artists pushing the medium. Started in 2016, they have screening work from over 250 animators from all over the world, many of whom work alone or with a very small team. Two half-hour blocks of films are curated with a few artists in attendance. Before the screening, after the show, and during the intermission, call-for-entries loops from the local and international animation community play on the projector. Free programs/zines are available at the door on a first come, first served basis and include behind-the-scenes work from featured animators, an interview with a featured local animator, and selected pieces of comics and writing. Films include hand-drawn AIR (2025) Anna Firth, the stop motion-smash: A Bird Hit My Window and Now I am a Lesbian (2024) by Carmela Murphy & AJ Dubler, the fully risograph-printed Whereabouts (2025) by Suejee Lee, and many more. Malt Adult #33 is sponsored by Animation Block Party, which has presented countless community-forward screening events - everywhere from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, London, New Orleans, Boston, and more - since its first inception in 2004. www.MaltAdult.com https://www.animationblock.com
