Darren Jessee is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and drummer whose thoughtful songwriting and understated musicianship have earned him a devoted following over more than three decades. Best known as a founding member of the influential alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five, Jessee co-wrote several of the band's most beloved songs, including the hit "Brick," while helping define the group's distinctive piano-driven sound with his expressive drumming and harmonies. Following Ben Folds Five's initial hiatus, Jessee founded the indie band Hotel Lights, showcasing a quieter, more introspective style rooted in folk, Americana, and melodic indie rock. Across four acclaimed albums, Hotel Lights established Jessee as a gifted songwriter whose evocative lyrics and understated arrangements resonated with listeners and critics alike.
