**What is Storybook Studio?** Storybook Studio is a weekly summer space where reading, art, and imagination come to life! Join us every week this August for an inspiring read-aloud featuring books carefully chosen to celebrate diverse global authors and meaningful themes, from community and empathy to nature and mindfulness. After the story, children and families can dive into fun, guided arts and crafts to bring the themes to life! **Week 2 Book: Julián Is a Mermaid by Jessica Love** After seeing three beautifully dressed women on the subway, a young boy named Julián becomes mesmerized by their mermaid-like appearance. When he gets home, he uses a curtain, some ferns, and his imagination to make his own mermaid costume, leading to a heartwarming moment of acceptance and celebration from his abuela. **About Emma** Emma is a passionate educator with over six years of classroom experience teaching in Italy, Argentina, Spain, and the United States. Originally from Massachusetts, she brings a dynamic, multicultural perspective to every session. Emma loves weaving themes from global literature and her own travels into engaging, creative experiences that inspire young minds.
