Black Editions Presents a night of sonic extremity with the Martín Escalante + Weasel Walter Duo and Vinny Golia Weasel Walter is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser best known for leading the seminal punk-jazz/no-wave/brutal-prog band The Flying Luttenbachers. Seamlessly uniting the intensity and abstraction of improvised music with the nihilist aesthetics of extreme rock forms, Walter was a catalyst in the 90's Chicago underground playing in bands such as the Flying Luttenbachers, Lake Of Dracula, and Bobby Conn. He has performed and recorded with Evan Parker, Roscoe Mitchell, Marshall Allen, Thurston Moore and Mary Halvorson and co-leads Lydia Lunch Retrovirus. Martín Escalante is a photographer, filmmaker and musician from Guanajuato, Mexico. His main instrument is the alto sax which he has modified to produce a wide variety of noises, multi-phonics and voice extensions. With Sploosh Records he releases his solo and collaborative work as well as other artists from Mexico, USA, Chile, Norway and Perú. As a composer Vinny Golia fuses the rich heritage of Jazz, contemporary classical and world music into his own unique compositions. Also a bandleader, Golia has presented his music worldwide in ensembles varying dramatically in size and instrumentation. Vinny has been a featured performer with Anthony Braxton, Bobby Bradford, Leo Smith, Horace Tapscott, John Zorn, Patti Smith, Han Bennick, Lydia Lunch, L.A. Philharmonic.
