Dead History - MPLS post-hardcore + shoegaze + emo + space rock feat. ex-Picturesque, Reach, Align, Gratitude, Floodplain, BNLX, Story of the Sea, The Book of Dead Names, etc. Ela (ee-lah) is a Twin Cities based band that formed in 2003. They have released two full lengths and a 12 inch single, and have largely been quiet since 2010. They are currently working on a book and album project to be released in 2025. Ela's first record, “Stapled to Air”, was released in 2004, followed by 2007’s “Real Blood on Fake Trees”. From 2004-20010 Ela played across the country with bands including Minus the Bear, The Wrens, Say Anything, Stars, Magnolia Electric Company, Cass McCombs, Carissas Weird (pre-Band of Horses), Tapes N Tapes, Pilot to Gunner, and Xiu Xiu among others. The new record extracts 10 pieces from a book length poem by singer/principal songwriter Bill Caperton, creating two pieces reflecting on parenthood, marriage, a global pandemic, fleeing wildfires, and trying to maintain a sense of hope in the midst of palpable entropy. VIN - Twin Cities Progressive/ Post / Math providing riffs and existential sadness. New record “Ephemeral Horizons” available now, a cascade of heavy and ethereal riffing intertwined with poetically devised lyricism, bringing an emotive tone to a carefully crafted instrumental soundscape
