Hess Is More & Friends — live event
Hess Is More started as a solo project for Danish musician Mikkel Hess, and has over the years developed into a circular transatlantic ensemble including musicians from Copenhagen, New York and Berlin. Hess Is More has released 9 albums and a bunch of EP’s and singles – music sounding in a borderland between jazz, kraut, electronica, pop, folk and more. For this show Hess brings his New York friends and songs from the Hess Is More songbook as well as fresh new material from the recently released album CÆKE. The sound of CÆKE is minimalist, spacious and mellow. Piano, drum machines and vintage synths assemble a curious DIY space for Hess’ voice to wander… pensive and unhurried, with strange, eccentric poetry. CÆKE represents a return to the basics, but the basics have changed. Life has changed. The world has changed. CÆKE is Hess finding the melody of a new life. One that makes room for both seriousness and carefreeness, the introspective and the outward, the living room and the dance floor.
