For over four decades, pianist, composer, educator and bandleader Michael Weiss has enjoyed a formidable career working in the bands of a host of jazz giants, including Johnny Griffin, Art Farmer, George Coleman, Jimmy Heath, Frank Wess, Slide Hampton, The Jazztet, Lou Donaldson, Charles McPherson, Wynton Marsalis, Jon Hendricks, and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Wayne Shorter even presented Weiss with the BMI/Monk Institute Composers Competition grand prize.
