In a bold diversion from her previous work, 2x Grammy Award-Winner, Corinne Bailey Rae, brings her years-in-the-making Black Rainbows project to fruition. Wide ranging in its themes, the punk albums’ subjects are drawn from encounters with objects and artworks collected by Theaster Gates at the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago. According to Bailey Rae, the curated collection of Black archives comprising books, sculpture, records, furniture, and problematic objects from America’s past, changed how she thinks about herself as an artist, and the possibilities of what her work could be. Black Rainbows is the manifestation of those possibilities, which at its core, explores Black femininity. * This performance is a special, exclusive performance of her album, Black Rainbows (Thirty Tigers / Sept 15, 2023), and will not include other material from her catalogue.
