Mamalarky, Kennedy Mann, Emotional World — live event

Thursday, May 8, 2025 Mamalarky + Kennedy Mann + Emotional World 9pm - $18 ADV / $20 DOS - All Ages Mamalarky Los Angeles, CA https://mamalarky.bandcamp.com Mamalarky’s tenderly tangled indie rock has the internal logic of ridiculous jokes shared between band members after spending weeks on the road together. The sum of friendships and collaborations dating back to their teenage years, the band melds flashy instrumental moves with head-sticking hooks and lovesick lyrics welcoming anyone into their private world. While Mamalarky are ostensibly an indie-pop group, they stand out from the laid-back melancholy moods of contemporaries with complex instrumental interplay that inspires lean-forward listening. KENNEDY MANN Brooklyn, NY https://kennedymann.bandcamp.com/ Kennedy Mann’s compositions strike you in the heart and linger like a bittersweet memory. Her latest full length, Maybe Tomorrow, arrived in October of last year on Julia’s War Recordings. But her journey as a songwriter began with Philadelphia-based band Highnoon’s first album, Semi Sweet (2019), a project consisting of homespun pop-rock tunes. As Kennedy continued to write, she quickly became memorable for her poignant lyricism, tender vocals, and sharp melodic skill on stage and online. Since then, Kennedy has released music under her own name with singles, “Crooked” (2023) and “It wasn’t just you, I felt it too” (2024). Drawing inspiration from the likes of George Clanton, Cocteau Twins, and AG Cook, her latest, Maybe Tomorrow, guides a classic dream pop sound through bursts of shoegaze, hyperpop, trip hop, and alternative rock. Kennedy is currently crafting an EP, which she plans to release later this year. EMOTIONAL WORLD Washington, DC https://emotionalworld.bandcamp.com/ ACCESSIBILITY INFO: Comet is wheelchair accessible
