Early on, he discovered many great improvisers in his uncle’s record collection, and he has since resolved to pursue a life in creative music. Working with piano and electronics, his music takes multidirectional cues from free jazz to footwork, bebop to noise, often in the same breath. He regularly performs in his experimental electronic band Busboy who self-released their debut album in March 2026. Empathy and ingenuity are at the core of his practice in every context.Shogo Yamagishi is a student born in Los Angeles and raised in Long Beach, California. He is the son of Mami Yamagishi and Dylan Ellefson. He currently studies in New York City. Shogo is a student of Jay Anderson and Buster Williams. He is a student of life and a student of his peers. He walks the world with love.Lou Grassi is internationally known for his work in both the traditional and the avant-garde jazz worlds. He has literally played from Ragtime to No-Time - he toured with Ragtime pianist Max Morath and is the leader of the Dixie Peppers. He has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of outstanding artists including Marshall Allen, Billy Bang, Karl Berger, Borah Bergman, Rob Brown, Roy Campbell, The Copascetics, Jimmy Garrison, Charles Gayle, Burton Greene, Urbie Green, Gunter Hampel, Johnny Hartman, Fred van Hove, Joseph Jarman, Sheila Jordan, William Parker, Perry Robinson, Roswell Rudd, John Tchicai, and Mark Whitecage. Lou appears on more than 100 recordings including more than 30 as a leader or co-leader.Henry Paul, Shogo Yamagishi, and Lou Grassi played together for the first time in early 2025. The meeting fostered a precious chemistry that the three have revisited dozens more times since. They have developed a shared language of mystery within their music which unfolds into far-reaching and dynamic sets full of noise, humor, stubbornness, and contrast.This event is All Ages Seating is first-come, first-served; the last 10 spots in the room are standing room.
