Kyle Morgan • Ellie MacPhee • Kat Wallace — live event

“Morgan’s acoustic folk songs are universally appealing for fans of the genre: sometimes sparse, sometimes lush, and often descended from the Paul Simon-to-Fleet Foxes family tree.” Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kyle Morgan grew up in central Pennsylvania, where he spent countless Sunday mornings amidst the broken strains and coffee breath of his church congregation. His first record, Starcrossed Losers, became the alias under which he would go on to release two more, Bind Us Anew and Strange Hesitations, each featuring his distinctive conglomeration of Americana styles, from stripped-down acoustic ballads and love-lorn parlor laments to roaring alt-country and throwback 60’s rock’n’roll. Released just this past February on Team Love Records, Younger At Most Everything, is a collection of deeply personal songs that reads like a map of Morgan’s spiritual evolution. From child of evangelical Christianity to existentially paralyzed adolescent, drunken romantic to neurotic but industrious artist, Younger takes listeners on a bumpy journey through the badlands of self-doubt, fear, repression, and near-despair, charting the ongoing, non-linear path towards healing. The first single, “Do You Still Have Some Fight In You,” came out November 12th. Kat Wallace is an accomplished Boston based fiddle player, singer and violin instructor. After receiving a degree in Violin Performance from the Ithaca College School of Music in 2016, Kat crossed over from classical to alternative string styles with ease, connecting her with masters of the fiddle. She’s directed a fiddle group in her home state of Connecticut as part of the famed Fire in the Kitchen Concert Series and Workshops, leading to opportunities to trade tunes with Darol Anger, Hanneke Cassel, Jeremy Kittel, Mike Block and others of their legacy. During her graduate studies at New England Conservatory she became a founding member and arranger of the Askia Quartet, where her skills in writing and arranging for string quartet flourished.
