Lace Card • BATACA • Dan Oiuw — live event

May 30th at Piano’s, three multi-layered artists from across the Americas converge to present a swirling tour de force of rhythmic mischief, instrumental experimentation and eccentric songs. Lace Card is an artist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and the secret weapon behind dozens, if not hundreds, of underground bands - in his solo work, he builds dizzying worlds out of fragments of pop, jazz, prog and funk, along with with meditations on human-being and connection in an age of simulacra. His upcoming album, Absolute Décor, spins warped, heartfelt pop epics that follow in the footsteps of the outsider legends of decades past. BATACA is the latest musical project of Jose Berrio, a Bogotá-born illustrator and musician. Over the last 15 years, he’s been actively involved in music through DJing and drumming for multiple NYC acts. As BATACA, Berrio explores songwriting through beat-making and sampling as the main vehicles, always searching for the hidden bridges between different cultures and sonic landscapes. Dan Oiuw is an Argentine music project consisting of Nervio (Nerve), Espectro (Spectre), and Petal (Petal). Since 2019, Oiuw has been releasing single after single and traveling through various capitals, performing in clubs and galleries in New York, Berlin, Barcelona, and Buenos Aires. Presenting itself as a fully animated trio, Dan Oiuw’s new material leans into a rawer sound, with Spanish lyrics that explore everyday situations shaped by neurotic paranoia and the exhaustion of living in a constant state of exposure to social media.
