Wendy Burns Music's LADIES OF JAZZ SHOW... "It's a Nashville Show to See". Featuring an exciting lineup of talent, Rudy’s Jazz Room's "Ladies of Jazz" showcase presents Nashville's favorite female vocalists collaborating together, displaying a variety of original and distinct vocal talent, backed by some of Nashville’s best and well known musicians. Wendy Burns Nashville's 2022 Inducted member Academy of Local Musicians Hall of Fame & 2023 Mississippi Music Foundations Best Female Jazz vocalists of the year. Flute playing jazz vocalist Wendy Burns of Nashville TN has studied and performed songs from the 1940's Jazz Big Band era since the age of 9 years old. She has been described as having a unique voice that fits the era. She has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and has sessioned and performed with many of the Nashville classic country greats. With a deep passion for jazz standards, and as a hopeless romantic, Wendy believes there's beauty in staying true to the melodies as they were written. Her set list includes songs from the "Great American Songbook", jazz standards, and a number of her fabulous original pieces that reminisce of cherished jazz classics you've never heard. Wendy's influences are Judy Garland, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey, The Andrew Sisters, and Helen Forrest, to name a few. You will also hear some of her original tunes in vaudeville fashion featuring "Grover" her ukulele. Rachel Crick Descending from a line of Vaudevillian performers, Rachel Crick, a Kentucky native, grew up with a fiddle in her hands and a song brewing inside. Since moving to Nashville, she has performed at some of Music City’s most notable venues, including The Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman Auditorium, and Bridgestone Arena. She has performed alongside various gospel, country, and pop artists, including High Road, Erin Enderlin, and Michael Buble. She has worked for many years as a fiddler and vocalist on The General Jackson Showboat. She currently serves as the violist in Bridges String Quartet and as the fiddle player with bluegrass-indie-rock group Neighborhood Folklore. She also fronts her own jazzy gospel band "Rachel Crick & The Gospel Jubilee." Sophia Goodman Sofia Goodman is an award-winning drummer and composer residing in Nashville, TN. In high school she was placed in Esperanza Spalding’s student ensemble at Berklee College of Music, where she was encouraged and inspired by the Grammy Award winning artist. She started her own group The Sofia Goodman Group in 2017. The ensemble has performed at a variety of festivals in the U.S.A and has released two albums. Her first album Myriad of Flowers was nominated by NIMA for Best Jazz album. Her second album, Secrets of the Shore, won Best Jazz Album of 2023 by the Nashville Scene, was featured in JAZZIZ and received 4 stars in DownBeat. Her upcoming album, Receptive, produced by Pascal Le Boeuf, will be out in 2024. Goodman has also received a nomination for Best Jazz Instrumentalist by NIMA, won the Pathways to Jazz Grant and the CMA Performance Plus Grant. She has been described as a "risk taking, progressive jazz drummer" by multiple press sources. She is also an educator, mentor and an advocate for women in jazz.
