The concert features the world premiere of Golnaz Shariatzadeh's work fabric of sorrow for saxophone, electronics and animation, commissioned by MATA Presents 2023. Embodying an array of emotions and reflections - grief, loss, stasis, nostalgia, dream states, and hope - These solo works speak together: each a solemnly sovereign single voice saying what it must. About Golnaz Shariatzadeh Golnaz is a composer, improviser and visual artist. She creates sonic spaces inspired by visual forms. Her music explores the unfamiliar territories of the sound and is heavily influenced by film. Her works have been performed by ensembles such as Elision Ensemble, Ensemble Recherche, TAK ensemble, line upon line, NADAR Ensemble and others. She is currently a PhD candidate in composition at Harvard University studying with Chaya Czernowin and Hans Tutschku.
